Personal Tours - Business as Usual

While our website provides a wealth of information about our school, it cannot capture what happens at Christchurch Adventist School. For this reason, we encourage you and your child to visit the school during school hours to see 'Business as Usual'. It is only then that you will see for yourself that Christchurch Adventist School is all that it is reported to be. We welcome your enquiry. Please contact us to make a booking and have a personalised tour, to see 'Business as Usual' at Christchurch Adventist School.

Enrolment Procedures

All students are required to complete an application for enrolment form which is available from the school office. The forms must be completed and returned to the Office along with supporting documentation as outlined on the application form.

Enrolment Process

1. Complete the enrolment application and return it to the school office with the relevant documents as listed on the reverse of the enrolment form.
2. Arrange with the secretary for a time to have a tour of the school and meet with the Principal.
3. You will be notified by the secretary of your child’s acceptance/nonacceptance after steps 1 and 2 have been completed.

At the time of enrolment, parents should advise the school of any family court order, which may relate to the child.

Conditions of Enrolment

Christchurch Adventist School operates not only for the members of the Adventist community, but also for students in the broader community who are committed to the values and the ethos of the school. Enrolments are accepted without regard to religion, ethnic background or nationality. All students are expected to live in harmony with the standards and participate in the life and program of the school, including devotional activities and Christian Living classes. Due to the conditions of our integration agreement with the Ministry of Education, preference must be firstly given to students attending Adventist churches, then students who are part of other Christian denominations. Our integration agreement with the Ministry of Education allows 10% of our students to come from non-Christian backgrounds.

Charges / Fee

Christchurch Adventist School (CAS) is committed to making Christian education affordable to as many students as possible. To assist families in meeting the cost of education, a direct debit system is available which allows payments to be spread equally across the school year. Please note that the fees listed are for domestic students only. Information on international student fees is available from the School Office.

2018 Fees (New Zealand Students)

Payable to NZ SDA Schools Association:

  1. Attendance Dues (compulsory) $137.50 per child per term (Primary), $192.50 per child per term (Secondary)
  2. Special Character Donation $25.00 per term (voluntary)

Payable to the School:

Subject Fees for Years 7-13

Student Activity Donation (Years 1-13) - Tax deductable
$35.00 per child per term (Primary), $40.00 per child per term (Secondary)

These voluntary donations assist with excursion costs, school magazine, art and craft, transport expenses and other off campus activities such as sport. This inclusive amount will support the educational programmes arranged by the School.

Payment Options

Fee instalments can be made as follows:

  • Option A: Fees are paid up-front for the year
  • Option B: Fees are paid up-front for the term
  • Option C: You may arrange weekly, fortnightly, or monthly direct debit payments (requires consultation with Principal or Financial Officer)

It is important that you notify the School Office at the beginning of the year, before the first due date, of the payment option you intend to use. Payment may be made by cash, cheque and direct debit. Variation from a pre-arranged payment plan would need to be arranged with the Principal.

Financial Assistance

Recognising that some families experience short term financial hardship, CAS has limited funding available to assist families experiencing genuine difficulties. We are dedicated to ensuring that financial hardship is not the primary reason for students being unable to attend or remain at our school. In cases of genuine extreme hardship, assistance in meeting fees may be available. Families wishing to make application for student aid should arrange an interview with the Principal.

Testimonials

“Having been in education in three countries for many years as a parent, chaplain, board member, and proprietor, I believe we’ve made the right decision to send our children to CAS. I am confident that CAS is shaping my children to be able to shape a better world and reach for eternity. If you’re an average family wanting above average Christian education I commend Christchurch Adventist School to you.”

– South NZ Adventist Church leader, Pr Damien Rice

Current and Past students share their thoughts on CAS…

“I came to CAS due to my unhappiness that went hand in hand with my old school. Naturally, I was a very shy and timid person; these qualities grew into happiness and confidence, due to the nurturing environment at CAS acting as a catalyst for such a developmental change. CAS is unlike other schools, placing importance not only on academic excellence, but learning to become the best version of yourself you can possibly be.”

- Evie Edilson

“CAS is a small school; that makes it unique to other schools. Sometimes at other schools one may not feel like they really fit in, but CAS gives you a sense of belonging. The school community is great and the teachers are there to help you with what you need. CAS taught me good habits for studying and I can apply them well at a higher level of education. In my first year at CAS I found everyone was basically like a big family, and helped those who were in need.”

- Reuben Masih

“One thing that stands out to me at CAS is the teachers; they not only cater to my academic learning but spiritual learning as well. The people at CAS make CAS what it is and I have learnt many valuable lessons from both teachers and students alike.”

– Juote Sione

“CAS is not just a school, it’s a family. It’s an amazing opportunity to come learn, worship, make long lasting friends and make a difference in other people’s lives. CAS has shown me what it means to have a solid relationship with God.”

– Sofia Hassounia

Current Board of Trustees Chairman, Mr John Edilson comments

“CAS is one of 15 Adventist Schools that the Adventist Church operates in NZ, from Whangarei through to Invercargill. It amazes me that all staff both academic and support genuinely care for the students, know their names and care about how they are progressing academically, socially and spiritually, all this being delivered in a practical, loving, Christian environment.”
